What does CATSINaM do?
We are the peak body representing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nurses and midwives across Australia. We are focused on getting our Peoples to consider nursing and midwifery as a career, and to keep them in the profession once they are qualified.
Why should I join CATSINaM?
There is strength in numbers, and every member brings us closer to our aim of increasing the recruitment and retention of Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander Peoples into nursing and midwifery across Australia.
Does it cost anything to become a member?
We have different levels of membership. Some levels are free, and others attract a small annual membership fee. Take a look at our membership levels to see which one applies to you.
Can I also be a member of other nursing organisations if I join CATSINaM?
Yes, in fact we encourage you to join other organisations to strengthen your professional knowledge base and affiliations.
Can you help me with an industrial relations issue?
Yes. We don’t help you directly, but we can refer you to one of our professional affiliates, such as the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF), who will be able to assist you.
Do you provide scholarships?
We don’t provide scholarships directly, but we can assist you with finding a scholarship that’s right for you. We can also provide you with a template to use as a guide to write your application. Please contact our Membership Engagement Officer at email@example.com for further information.
Can you help me find a tutor to help me with my studies and assignments?
Right now we can connect you with the Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme (ITAS). ITAS is a Commonwealth funded program that provides Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students with one-on-one private or group tuition. We encourage you to contact your Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Support Unit at your University. If they are unable to offer you assistance, please contact our Membership Engagement Officer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In the near future we will be:
- asking our members to donate their time to help our student members with their studies
- setting up tutoring webinars throughout the year which focus on academic writing.
