Who We Are

The Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses and Midwives (CATSINaM) was founded at a National Forum of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nurses and midwives, in August 1997.

For over 25 years we have grown to represent, advocate and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nurses, midwives and students.

We are committed to improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s health outcomes in Australia. We do this by:

  • Honouring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing, being and doing.
  • Working to eliminate systemic organisational and individual racism.
  • Committing to collective leadership and reciprocal relationships.
